Who are we?
We are men and women from all walks of life. We
share a deep faith and a desire to ensure that we
will always have Priests and Religious to work
among usWhat
are our aims?
a) to promote, support and sustain Vocations
to the Priesthood and the Religious Life
b) to encourage our members, in fellowship, to
develop their own knowledge and understanding of
their Faith
What are the
Vocations needs of the Church?
Our Church has always needed strong
leadership and powerful role models. Laypeople
must help to call forth Priests, Brothers,
Sisters, Permanent Deacons and Lay Ministers from
within the community. Equally, they must affirm
those who already serve the Church so that they
may continue to find fulfilment in their
vocations
What do we do for
Vocations?
We pray daily and encourage others,
through 31-clubs, to pray at least monthly for
the Vocations we need. We work with our Bishops
and Directors of Vocations in many and varied
ways. We encourage awareness in parishes by, for
example, holding Vocations Vigils
When do we meet?
We meet twice a month with a meal
and, in many cases, a Mass. We foster our
spiritual growth by prayer, spiritual readings
and, normally, by having speakers on items of
interest
Why
"Serra"?
In 1935 the founding group of
laymen in Seattle USA chose as their patron
Father Junipero Serra, the Franciscan who founded
missions in California. Father Serra was
beatified in 1988
